I make faces. Loud color, a little humor, feelings that will not sit still. Some of the work is acrylic on canvas; some of it lives on a screen. I work out of Indianapolis. This page is still waiting for Catla’s own words.
How she works
One piece at a time. Acrylic when the color needs a body; digital when it needs to move faster than paint. There is no assistant, and no rush that would help the picture.
What she cares about
A face that is a little too much. Color that feels lived with — not arranged for a photograph. She would rather paint a feeling that is a little tired than a feeling that is trying.
Commission or visit
Write first. Commissions are possible when the subject is something she would paint anyway. The studio is in Indianapolis; visits are by appointment, and we keep them quiet.
